If you are interested in being a coordinator, please email us at MediaRage2012 @gmail.com or use our contact page and put “coordinator” in the subject line. We’ll be in touch with you,  we’ll update the list of cities and contact info.  Thank you for your time and support for this critically important cause.

The challenge for coordinating a RATM protest is that there is NO OBVIOUS LOCATION for holding a protest!  If you are coordinating in a city such as Los Angeles, New York, or Chicago, you have a number of media sites from which to choose!  Because of this, we have created a set of guidelines to help you generate the best possible turnout in your city.

  1. Pick a media (newspaper, TV Studio) location considering these criteria:Contact the local police department and ask what is required for you to have a protest at that location.  Generally, if you are not setting up sound systems or anything requiring power, no permit is required as you have a right to assembly!  But letting the local police know about your plans is important so that they support you if needed and can ensure that you are not violating any ordinances.  In Los Angeles, we make sure to alert our LAPD and they have always, unfailingly, been extremely helpful and supportive.
    • It should be centrally located and have a high volume of traffic on a Saturday, either pedestrian or vehicle.
    • Ideally, there is a wide sidewalk with no parking meters in front, so that cars driving by can get a good view of your signs and your energy
    • It doesn’t have to be the network you are the most annoyed with, but the one that will get the most attention by passers-by.
  2. Check out the parking situation – there will ALWAYS be people who will ask about parking – be informed so you can address their concerns.
  3. Contact your local Tea Party groups, GOP groups, University Republican clubs, any activist groups you know of.  Email, go to meetings, put up and hand out flyers, run ads.  Not only is it more effective when you have more people, but it’s more FUN!!
  4. Advertise your protest on Facebook and on twitter.  When tweeting, reference @mediarage as well as Sean Hannity, Breitbart, Mark Levin, MRC so that they and their other followers are aware.  You can also use the #RATM hashtag.
  5. Send press releases to your local media.  Will they cover it?  Probably not.  But give them a chance to do the right thing.
  6. PDF’s for flyers and posters can be found at the PROTEST MATERIALS page here and on Facebook under the “files” tab.  If you have ideas for others, email us at MediaRage2012@gmail.com and let’s build up a gallery of materials to use!
  7. Protest Guidelines are found here.  In addition, have flyers to hand out on that day.  They should be clear, concise, informative, and factually accurate.  Again, they are available here or on FB for you to print or have printed.
  8. Aim for a one-hour protest; it can go longer if you have the people and the energy but more than 2 hours is generally too long.
  9. HAVE FUN, BE COURTEOUS, BE LOUD and BE HEARD!
