Fantastic!

1-HonestJournalism

On a sunny day in Westwood, California, with temperatures in the mid-70s, well over 100 people gathered to hear our phenomenal line-up of speakers and our world-class band, “The Black List.”  Tony Torres was our Master of Ceremonies, and ensured that the energy level was high, that the RAGE was directed at the MEDIA, and that we all were informed, entertained and inspired.

In addition, a number of activists lined up along Wilshire Boulevard with signs protesting against media corruption, bias and dishonesty generally.

This event brought together people from a number of disparate groups from all over Southern California – we had people come up from San Diego and Orange County, and down from Woodland Hills, Simi Valley and Valencia. We had college students attending their first rally, and a number of our committed activists who have been at each of our events. This was a great opportunity for people to be able to meet each other for such an important cause, with a dozen outstanding speakers and some fantastic music. For a non-election event, and an event not addressing an issue of immediate crisis, it was an outstanding turnout.

As was made clear at the outset, the fight for honest journalism is not a partisan one!  All Americans suffer when our media lies to us.  A self-governing nation requires we the people to be informed, and when our media deliberately does NOT inform us, we are increasingly less capable of self-governance.

We see this every single day in our interactions with friends and family – people who really do feel they follow the news, but are aghast when we share something that the media has hidden.  Issues that range from Obamacare to the Zimmerman trial, from Fast &Furious and Benghazi to the Kermit Gosnell trial, from true joblessness numbers to real crime statistics, particularly as they relate to gun control and race, from the truth about the Middle East,Common Core, Agenda 21 and on and on to just about everything- every single American  has a need to know the truth about these  issues because they affect each and every one of us.

Rage Against the Media is non-partisan because Obamacare – its costs and consequences – affects all of us; Common Core will reach all our children; joblessness hurts all of us; the hate-mongering by those black leaders who stir up racial divisiveness hurts all Americans, regardless of political affiliation.  A media that hides or lies about these stories hurts all of us.  A weak economy and a vulnerable nation are detrimental to ALL of us.  Rallying for HONEST JOURNALISM is a cause that all Americans should support. Sadly, such is not the case.

How is it that Democrats, liberals, progressives, leftists – whatever you choose to call them – are OK with being lied to?  Just because the lies support their agenda doesn’t make them acceptable.  If a box of Twinkies says that there are only 5 calories in each Twinkie, that might make us happy to know, and we might eat more Twinkies because of it, but the fact of the matter is – WE’LL STILL GET FAT.  The calorie count is what it is, regardless of the lie.  Leftist policies – and right-wing ones – need to be evaluated objectively.  The truth needs to be told about bills such as Obamacare, about programs such as the “War on Poverty,” about the consequences of gun control legislation, about why our President and Secretary of State Clinton refused the requests for aid by our Ambassador in the weeks, days and hours preceding the massacre in Benghazi and even during it.

Why is it that only conservatives feel a need for honesty?  Why is it that leftists accept being lied to?

We know the answer.  When you feel lying benefits you, you accept it.  When you feel that the truth will hurt you, you fight it.

In other arenas, this is called cheating.  When we have media that evangelizes for one side rather than provides objective reporting, we lose the free marketplace of ideas, and no matter how hard conservatives try to come up with the best policies, candidates, strategies, none of it will matter with a media that does what it can to silence a voice other than their own.

Each of our speakers, in his or her own way, addressed how the media cheats Americans of free choice. They were passionate, informed, emotional, funny, poetic, entertaining, serious, angry, and always deeply concerned about how this corruption endangers us all.

Videos of each speaker.are found here.    No, it won’t be the same as being part of the energy of this crowd, but we promise:  you’ll be entertained and motivated and empowered to fight back against the damage that the media is doing.
