CNN – Los Angeles; Revisited

On Saturday, May 4th, 2013 an enthusiastic group demonstrated in front of CNN on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood. Many people driving by honked in support, and even more gave us thumbs-up. But what startled many of us – although it shouldn’t have – is how many pedestrians walking by expressed total ignorance of the topics addressed on our signs. A shocking number had no idea of what Benghazi was, or who Kermit Gosnell is. Of course, we were happy to explain to anybody who asked the facts of both of these issues that the media has chosen to keep hidden from us.
There are those who question the effectiveness of these demonstrations. Our experience on Saturday reinforced our conviction that these are a critical piece of educating Americans – both about the corruption of the media and their effectiveness at keeping us in the dark, and about critical events that they otherwise would remain ignorant of. RATM views these as one important component of fighting for objective media; we hope to have more and more of these demonstrations, and that more and more of us realize that we are being lied to and that together, we can attain a Fourth Estate that takes its responsibility seriously.
