Every day, the media commits outrageous, damaging and deliberate distortions in their “reporting” of the news. And fortunately for us, there are some outstanding watchdogs who report on these betrayals of the American people by the media they turn to for information.

Welcome to RATM’s “PICKS OF THE DAY” feature where we highlight those articles and reports that best summarize the bias, corruption and/or dishonesty.

 November 2:  from MRC

Even though it shouldn’t, it continues to astonish us that the only enemy against whom fear is a legitimate tactic is the Republicans.  Democrats in every other case are the masters and proponents of appeasement, modifying the old 60s mantra into “there’s no such thing as an enemy, only a friend we haven’t abased ourselves before.” What does this tell us?  That the right strikes greater fear in THEIR hearts than anything or anyone else.  Oh, with the exception of Global Warming.

That aside, the blatant partisanship of Andrea Mitchells revealed here, where she “[f]rets Unpopular Obama Can’t ‘Frighten’ GOP Anymore.”

On her 1 p.m. ET MSNBC show on Thursday, host Andrea Mitchell whined about Senate Republicans blocking some of the President’s recent nominees and worried about the impact of Obama’s sagging poll numbers: “…in terms of presidential power, polls affect votes….this is diminishing the President’s clout, when he can’t frighten – you know, have enough political weight to frighten everybody into line to try to peel off some Republican votes.”

November 1: From the Daily Caller:

AP editors: Obama relies on staged propaganda photos

The administration which crowed about being the most transparent in history ( and which was even presented with an award for transparency in a closed-door ceremony, an irony even recognized by HuffPo)  refuses to allow photojournalists access to the President, insisting they only use pictures by his own paid photographers.   It seems they have proven their complicity in propagating the narrative out of the White House, and now only publish photos provided from the White House.  One might ask why this president doesn’t trust the sycophantic press to the extent that they aren’t allowed to take their own photographs, but really, it’s in keeping with their fundamental world-view.  Everything this administration does is about fostering dependency (Obamacare isn’t about care but about control and encroaching reliance on government subsidies, just as one of countless examples) and undermining individual pursuits and effort.  It’s the Leftist way:  without government, we are nothing.

MRC Study: How the Broadcast Networks Spun the Shutdown Obama’s Way

When the media creates the world-view of 20 million Americans, we can’t ignore their deliberate dishonesty.  This report by MRC outlines the spin by the media about the Shutdown.  One startling finding:  Of the “Big Three” networks’ coverage of the 16-day government shutdown,  41 stories blamed Republicans and zero blamed Democrats.

Shameless: NBC Never Tells Viewers it Smeared Zimmerman with Doctored Audio
Despite firings, apology, lawsuit, network silent about phony tape.

By Matt Philbin | Published: 6/19/2013 2:26 PM ET

…. For a full week in March, 2012 NBC “Nightly News” and “Today,” along with its local Miami affiliate ran audio tape of George Zimmerman’s 911 call the night he fatally shot Trayvon Martin. NBC viewers learned that Zimmerman had said to the 911 dispatcher, “This guy looks like he’s up to no good. He looks black.”

That was pretty damning evidence of racial profiling. It was also an entirely false representation of the 911 conversation. Someone at NBC had edited the tape to make Zimmerman appear racist. …read more

And of course, because it’s all about race, the media have honed in on this one case of a “white Hispanic” killing a black man, and ignoring, with a willful blindness that is pathological, the hundreds upon hundreds of deaths of African Americans at the hand of other African Americans (according to one source,  “in the 513 days between Trayvon dying, and today’s verdict, 11,106 African Americans have been murdered by other African-Americans”   – and let’s not even mention the statistics regarding abortions of African Americans (according to the CDC, 1452 African American babies are aborted every day – and since 1973, the year of the Supreme Court Decision Roe vs. Wade, 13 million (13,000,000) African American lives have been lost to abortion.)  And their coverage of the horrific numbers of murders in Obama’s adopted home-town of Chicago (under the mayoral “leadership” of his friend Rahm Emmanuel?)  Silence; Crickets chirping.

9/10 Mentality: CIA Blasted for NYPD Help

The most recent installment in the New York Times’s effort to dial America’s security back to a September 10, 2001 mentality came today in the form of an article detailing the latest faux scandal the paper has tried to attach to the New York City Police Department.
